BATTERY REQUIREMENT
The Mercury 2.4kva inverter is 24VDC battery voltage. It will operate on a battery bank of two 12V external batteries. For adequate energy storage capacity, 200Ah/12V batteries or higher would serve you better, though lower battery capacities will still run the inverter. RATED CAPACITY
The rated capacity of the Mercury 2400VA is 1440W. While that means it can support up to 1440 watts of load, you must realise that extended power backup will come from substantially reduced load. The wider the gap between your actual load and the rated capacity, the longer the backup you get. Inverters that are loaded to near full capacity can only deliver limited backup time and will often harm the battery bank in short order. Lower load levels not only result in longer backup performance but will mean less stress on batteries, which, all things being equal, will last much longer.
